When a recovery rope stretches, it transfers kinetic energy from the recovering vehicle to the stuck vehicle. This stretch allows the pulling vehicle to use its own kinetic energy to reduce the amount of force needed to free the stuck vehicle. This feature makes kinetic recovery ropes especially useful in low traction situations where conventional chains or tow straps might fail.
